When the author, Catherine Katafiasz Macaro originally published the book, it became a big hit, because in 1978 president and Mrs. Carter took the publication to the Warsaw Children’s Hospital as a gift from the children in the USA. The author was born in the Polish community of Toledo, Ohio and currently resides in Temperance, Michigan.
